Fair Trade Denim Wear – Fashionable, Affordable, and Ethical
Fair trade denim jeans are becoming increasingly more popular amongst shoppers worldwide. The demand for ethically produced goods has expanded greatly as publicity about working conditions at major manufacturers’ has been exposed. What consumers are finding (to their delight) is that these fair traded goods are available at competitive prices relative to brand name goods. It was not until the brave efforts of a few high profile celebrities brought the first products to market. The surprising result was that ethically produced clothes, coffee beans, and handbags were price competitive because they did not carry the burden of excessive advertising, marketing and administrative expense of similar branded goods.
Welcome New Entrant Fair Trade Denim Designer Jeans
One of the latest entrants in the market is fair trade denim designer jeans. While a fashion branded shopper might expect to pay over one hundred dollars for a single pair of designer denim blues, a fair trade denim consumer will pay less than half that price typically. When the value of hand made craftsmanship and custom embroidery is factored in the value of the ethically manufactured bluejeans is incomparable.
Certification Is Required in Order to Bear the Label
Each item that tries to bear the mark of certification has to follow an internationally agreed upon set of policies in order to ensure ethical practices are understood and followed. Although it initially may seem onerous to overcome the administrative hurdles, many companies are making the commitment to hold themselves accountable to ethical business standards. Some of the more prominent names in the industry are Paul Newman and Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream, both vanguards and pioneers in their own right.
Fashion Conscious Shoppers Embracing New Model
When given the choice between goods produced under a high ethical standard and fair labor practices and goods that are not, shoppers have been overwhelming choosing ethical goods. The reasons are many and obvious. When price and quality are not substantively different, consumers overwhelmingly prefer to spend their money in an equitable trade partnership rather than an abusive one.

How did 7 for all mankind sell and distribute $13 million in denim in first year?
I am writing the business plan for my clothing company and wanted to find out more information on how 7FAM and other brands come to have 200+ retail stores in a short amount of time. Also, how did 7FAM do $13 million in sales in their first year? I realize that a lot of it is simply due to increasing popularity and celebrity presence.
Will I have to contact retailers and set up meetings to sell clothes on a one on one basis?
Are there distribution companies ,with contacts in the industry, who will sell my designer line to retailers on a commission basis, in order to reach sales goals as fast as possible?
Best Regards
They started a couple stores. Merged with some more that the agreement was that they would use the 7FAM name. Also bought out another company with a lot of atores.
